Finishing Final Painting April 2009

These photos show my finished panting. I need to do some touch ups on the orange and a few other colours. I am very proud on how it has turned out.

Decisions April 2009

These images show my drips on an image of my painting. they show lots of dripping techniques. the orange would blend in with the background and the black would overpower. there are also images of the tape that was pulled off the painting. I will create another piece of work from these. I have decided not to drip as it does not really need it.

Finishing Final Painting April 2009

I took these two photographs of my painting finished before I took the tape of. I then had to make a decision whether I was going to drip on the painting. The drips would represent sadness and crying. This shows the sadness of the climate change.

New Painting 24th March 09

Today I have continued my painting. I have added a dramatic colour, this is the fluorescent pink. I think that this really pushes the manipulation and brings the whole thing together. I am nearly finished but I will be leaving it for a few weeks now. I am off to Amsterdam next week for an educational trip, then we have our Easter Break which is two weeks, and then for a week after that I have my work experience. I hope that this does not throw me off too much.

New Painting 23rd March 09

Here is a close up of my painting. By clicking on it to enlarge, you will also see how well the colours go together.

New Painting 23rd March 09

Even though they are very different greens to what I originally planned in the Photo Shop image, I think my new ones work with the colours I do have extreamly well.

New Painting 23rd March 09

The green is really starting to bring the whole painting together.

New Painting 23rd March 09

Today I have started to add the green stamen in. I have taken a few photographs throughout the day, they have been published next.

New Painting 23rd March 09

I took this photograph this morning of my painting upside down. Being the other way up it looks so different. Im not sure weather I like it or not yet.

Visit to Thanet Earth 21st March 2009

I chose to take this photograph due to the masses of wood and vegetables laying in the to of the skip. What a "WASTE".

Peter Halley

I have been looking at Peter Halley's paintings. He uses bright and bold colours similar to what I like to use in my own paintings.

Mick Finch New work

I have been looking at Mick Finch's newer pieces. This have given me some ideas to have pieces hanging or attached to my own painting.

New Painting 18th March 09

today I have again added a few more colours to the piece. I have only had a chance for a few hours today, so again not very much progress.

New Painting 17th March 09

At the end of today I have have added a few more colours and carried on over laying the first colours to thicken them up.

New Painting 17th March 09

I have not made as much progress today. I have begun to go over some of the colours that I had already done to thicken them up.

New Painting 10th march 09

Today I have made great progress. After finishing drawing up my painting this morning I began to paint. I have only painted thin coats an have realised that the household paint needs to be applied thickly to give the loose affect that I want.

The Start 10th March 09

This photograph show the start of my new painting. I stretched canvas over a 7ft frame and firstly primed it with rabbit skin glue to ensure a tight canvas to work on. I also primed over the top of that with white emulsion, this gave a clean surface to start working on. The next stage was to apply my base coat of orange household paint. once dry I gridded up my image and the canvas to the same dimensions and began drawing and taping the mosaic affect.

Final image

This image is my final image that I have produced on PhotoShop. I will be starting to produce the painting in household paints today. I will lay down the base colour of orange and then mask where the lines are. I will then draw on the design and produce the rest of the painting.

Image For My Painting (Nearly)

This will hopefully be the image that I will use to inform my painting that may be done in household paints. I am still deciding on a colour for the stripes in the background. A red is working quite well, this brings the Lilly forward. I have produced this image all in PhotoShop from a digital photograph of my own.

A Difference

Here is the same Lilly that I have been working on. I have trimmed it t a more interesting composition. I am still trying t get the right colours as this painting will hopefully be a final.

More Stretched Ideas

Here are some images that I have manipulated (two of which are below) and then stretched them to see what they would look like if I were to paint them like my first painting.

More Ideas

These are more of my own photographs that I have manipulated on PhotoShop. I copied the layer on top of itself, added a filter and then rubbed away parts to reveal the first layer. The first photo here has had a pallet knife filter over the top and then the decaying petals have been revealed. the second photo here has had a fresco filter added. I then revealed the greens in the image. The thought process here is to have the stems coming out of the painting as a 3D add on.

And Another

Here is another idea. I have taken a digital image of Lilly and a Rose. I then stretched them and used Auto Colour in PhotShop to enhance them.

New Ideas

Here is a new idea. it was a digital photograph of two Lillies. I have stretched them and then changed the colours to a bold more enhanced colour of what they were.

Final Painting

Here is my Painting Finished on the 11th February 2009. I am very pleased with the final outcome, I had problems with the large, light blue area as it did not look right and I could not work out why. I think that the yellow should have come out further into it so that it was not quite so bold. I am now ready to start planning a second painting. I will use PhotoShop to manipulate other photographs I have. I will stretch them and change the colours until I find the right image.

My Painting 10th February

Her is my painting. I think that I am finished now besides a few touch ups an neatning up around edges. I am extreamly pleased and am ready to start another very soon.

My Painting 4th February

Here is my painting nearly finished. There is a small part that needs colour at the bottom of the painting, and then I need to over coat the yellows as the pigmant in the paint I have is not very strong. I need to go over it to make sure that the colour is matt and block.

My Painting 3rd February

Here is the latest update of my painting. It is really coming togeather now. I have had to lay an acrylic underlay under the yellow oils as the oil is not taking to well on top of the green. I have tested one part with th acrylic under and it coming up more vibrant. I am pleased with the progress so far. A lot of progress has been made today. A little was completed yesterday but I was sent home from college due to weather conditions.

My Painting 28th January

My Painting 27th January

Here is my painting continued. It is starting to come along now. And now that there are more colours appearing, the blue edging is really starting to look bright.

My Painting 26th January

Here is my painting continued. Some of the edges are bleeding a little, I really need to make sure that I stick my masking tape down properly.

My Painting 26th January (morning)

This is my own painting of a manipulated passion flower. I have an undercoat of acrylic and then I have been using block colours of oil paint to create the image.

My Projection

Here is an image of my projection for my drawings and painting. I will also be creating a sculpture made from material

Anya Gallaccio

here is an image of Anya Gallaccio's sculpture of a bronze tree with ceramic apples hanging. her work focuses on natural decay of organic materials such as flowers and fruit.

Manipulated Passion Flower

Here I have created a drawing using oil pastels and chalks in grey tones, the drawing is from a photograph that I projected from a side view to create a manipulation.
